What is Status King?
Status King is a game where people submit their favorite status messages from the world of social media. Creativity and original submissions are encouraged. The game is played King-of-the-Hill style where statuses can be voted up or down. Each week, the status at the top of the heap wins, and the winner is crowned Status King. The winner is then sent a custom shirt with the winning status or is given the option to receive two free shirts from the Status King Store. What is the Status King Store?
The Status King Store is a t-shirt company for the world's wittiest people. The Status King Store sells custom t-shirt designs created both in-house and by Status King User Submissions. Designs are selected based on popularity and quality. Eventually, we envision a new and separate Status King game where designs compete to be printed. When will you print the first user created design?
Our first participant submitted design will be selected Monday, December 21, 2009. The submission deadline for participant submitted designs is Wednesday, December 16, 2009. If all goes well, we'll be printing user created designs every week or two after that. We will let you know.Did someone say something about prize money?
The prize for our first winner will be $100 USD plus 2 free tee shirts from the store of your choice and we cover the shipping. We will pay the $100 by PayPal to the winner. You'll get paid within about two weeks of being selected. PayPal really is the most convenient method for everyone, but if for some bizarre reason, you aren't able to have a PayPal account, then well figure something out.How do I get a design into the Status King Store?
User submitted designs are at the heart of what we do. First, your design must be accepted to be displayed in the store and on the Status King Game. Designs do go through a small screening process to make sure its up to par, and if its not, we send you a nice little letter letting you know your design was rejected.Once your design is displayed within the store, our Status King users will be able to indicate their like or dislike of the design, and will be able to share the design. By submitting, you acknowledge you understand this and agree to it. Whether or not we print and sell your design is based upon the popularity of the design and a few subjective criteria. We also take into account all the comments, and recent activity.
What about intellectual property rights?
You own your design. However, by submitting the User Submissions to Status King, you hereby grant Status King a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicenseable, and transferable right and license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform the User Submissions in connection with the Website and Statusking.net’s (and its successor’s) business, including without limitation for promoting and redistributing part or all of the Website (and derivative works thereof) in any media now known or hereafter developed. The foregoing license granted by you terminates once you remove or delete a User Submission from the Website. If your design is selected and prize money is awarded, Status King may, at its option, continue to reprint and sell the design.
Who can submit designs to the store?
Anyone who wants to submit a design can submit a design. You can submit a design based on your own status message or based on any status found in the game. A design can include the text of a status message, graphics inspired by the status message or both. A design does not have to include the text of a status message to be accepted. What could get a design rejected?
To name a few:1. It has too many colors. Because we are just launching our store, we have a color limit of three imprint colors. This will expand later as we grow.
2. You wouldn't feel comfortable showing it to your mother. In other words, if it contains profanity, vulgarity, porn, racist or hate language, your design will be rejected.
3. It is a copy of someone else's design. Designs should be your own work, although you are welcome to use statuses found in the game to inspire and create your design.
4. It contains a trademark. For example, we cannot accept designs or statuses for print containing trademarks such as Facebook, Nike, or Jedi.
